Well, it’s true what they say, the atmosphere at Jeld-Wen field when the Timbers play is phenomenal! The Timbers Army faithful enter the stadium about 2 hours before kickoff and don’t stop signing from the time warm-ups start until the final whistle blows. That is very impressive.
However, the Real Salt Lake travelling contingent (estimated at 500+ in the visitors sections alone) held their own. Both groups were loud and made themselves heard throughout the match. For the RSL side that didn’t go unnoticed from the players.
“We knew there were going to be alot of people coming up,” commented midfielder Ned Grabavoy after the match. “Obviously in warmups everybody was up there cheering and singing. Unbelievable section! That helps a little bit. It helps to know that you have that support. The fans were great that travelled up.”
We may be partial, but we think our group of travelling fans were every bit as good as the much acclaimed Timbers Army. The only thing that separated the two was the shear numbers of the home side. What do you think? Take a look and give us your opinion.
