In the first half of Real Salt Lake’s 1-0 victory over Chivas USA, defender Chris Schuler injured his hand after going to the ground on a tackle. It’s believed that the injury was caused by an awkward connection with the ground. Schuler remained in the game, and went on to play the full 90.
Schuler suffered a fracture to the 4th metacarpal on the play. He underwent surgery today thanks to Salt Lake Regional team physician, Dr. Andrew Cooper. He had a pin placed in order to accelerate the recovery. As a result, he should miss minimal action, and there is a possibility that he could even be available for selection next weekend.
We wish a speedy recovery to Chris. Get well soon!
