Perhaps the best way to sum up tonight’s match is by saying that RSL played well given the circumstances. RSL was missing five starters that were called away for international duty, and several more were unavailable because of illness or injury. In spite of it all, RSL battled hard, but came up just short of getting a result.

Perhaps the biggest highlight for RSL was seeing Nat Borchers back in the starting lineup. The RSL defense looked a bit shaky at times, but did enough to fend off the speedy Dallas attack for 70 minutes. In the 71st minute, FC Dallas’ Fabian Castillo scored on well placed shot from the left side. A few minutes later, in the 77th minute, RSL had their best scoring chance when a shot from Findley was blocked, Devon Sandoval gathered up the rebound and had his shot poked away by the outstretched foot of the FC Dallas defender, keeping RSL from equalizing the match. The resulting corner kick found the head of Olmes Garcia, who had just entered the game, and was directed towards the goal, only to be denied by the left post. Dallas would score it’s second goal a few minutes later when RSL goalkeeper Josh Saunders was unable to clear the ball after receiving a back pass from Palmer, and was knocked in by Jackson.

Look for RSL to rebound from this tough loss next week, when they take on the Seattle Sounders at home. RSL will have the five starters back from international duty, as well as Javier Morales, who has been out with injury.
