Saborio scored two goals in the final 20 minutes to give RSL the road victory over San Jose. San Jose had plenty of chances and came close a couple times, but just could not put the ball in the net. The RSL defense looked pretty strong for the most part, and was able to do enough to keep San Jose scoreless. That along with a couple great saves helped Rimando earn the 100th shutout of his career. Joao Plata came in for Robbie Findley in the 65′ and very quickly showed what he is capable of. A quality first touch and a great ball over the top to streaking Sabo lead to the first goal of the match in the 71′. In the 85′, captain Kyle Beckerman — making his 300th career MLS appearance — played a really nice through ball to Sabo on the left side, who knocked it in for the second goal of the match. The loss for San Jose snapped an 18-match regular-season unbeaten streak at home.

All in all it was a solid victory for RSL. There’s plenty that RSL needs to work on, but a season opening road win against a quality team like San Jose is something to be very happy about. Let’s hope RSL is able to carry the momentum with them as they take on DC United this Saturday, March 9th. Full coverage of the match will be posted here.
