RSL finished up the last game of a four game MLS home stand with a solid 2-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders. The first half saw a lot of back and forth but few chances for either team. RSL captain Kyle Beckerman would get the scoring started in the 41st minute on a quality finish after a free kick taken by MF Javier Morales deflected off the wall and floated over to Beckerman. After one bounce, Beckerman hit the ball out of the air and into the net after it kissed the underside of the crossbar. A superb strike that commentator Brian Dunseth predicted will be the MLS goal of the year.

RSL would start the second half where they left off at the end of the first. In the 46th minute, F Robbie Findley cracked a shot off Seattle GK Michael Gspurning, which rebounded back to F Alavaro Saborio who tried a one-time shot that went right back to Findley. After a couple bounces between his legs, the ball settled and Findley turned and fired it past the Seattle keeper, putting RSL on top 2-0.

The victory puts RSL into first place with 30 points and a 9-5-3 record. RSL looks to continue the recent win streak as they take on the Carolina Railhawks in a US Open Cup Quarterfinal match on Wednesday June 26th at 7:30 pm MT at Rio Tinto. Tickets can be purchased online, or by calling (801) 727-2700. After Wednesday’s match the team hits the road to take on Toronto FC (2-7-6, 12 points) on Saturday June 29th at 11:00 am MT.
