It wasn’t the cleanest, most dominant victory for RSL, but it was a victory on the road, and in Canada. That makes this the first ever victory for RSL in Canada, so you know the team will be happy with the three points and move on to the next one.

The only goal scored came in the 45th minute when D Tony Beltran took the ball deep down the right side, made a nice move and pulled it back to F Olmes Garcia waiting inside the top of the box. Garcia then play it back to MF Yordany Alvarez just outside the box and a bit to the right side. Alvarez hit a one-time bullet that whizzed through everybody and slammed into the back of the net, for his first career MLS goal. Toronto had several good looks in second half stoppage time, but thanks to some great saves from GK Nick Rimando and D Nat Borchers, RSL was able to keep Toronto scoreless and maintain another clean sheet victory.

RSL has a quick turn around with the next game on Wednesday, July 3rd back home at Rio Tinto against the Philadelphia Union (7-5-4, 25 points). Kickoff is set for 8:00 pm mountain time with a 4th of July fireworks show after the game. Tickets can be purchased online, or by calling 801.727.2700. Live blog game coverage can be followed at RSL sits on top of the Western standings with a 10-5-3 records and 33 points, 3 points ahead of Portland.
